• Nikon Omega 3-9×40 Riflescope – Finally a Dedicate Muzzeloader Scope!

    Feb 25 • News • 3539

Attention muzzleloader hunters – there is finally a riflescope on the market that is designed specifically for your needs. The Omega Muzzleloading 3-9×40 Riflescope from Nikon is designed to help you take full advantage of the accuracy potential of your muzzleloader. The Omega Riflescope features Nikon’s patent-pending BDC-250 reticle so you can utilize a bullet drop compensator that is designed for the unique ammunition loads of today’s (and yesteryear’s) muzzleloading rifles, including .50 caliber loads and 150 grain Pyrodex loads, and 250 grain bullets. The Omega 3-9×40 takes the guesswork out of where to hold on those longer range shots, so you can count on taking down that big game with your muzzleloader from even 250 yards out.

The BDC-250 reticle is a trajectory-compensating aiming reticle that utilizes a unique system of “ballistic circles”, with each circle subtending 2 inches at 100 yards. The sighting-in range of this riflescope is 100 yards, and the aiming point circles are set at 150, 200, 225, and 250 yards. This system allows the shooter accurate and reliable aiming points for multiple shot ranges.

The Omega 3-9×40 is also equipped with state of the art lens coating technology, so you can expect a clear and sharp image through the eyepiece – even in low light conditions. Nikon’s lens coatings are capable of boosting light transmission by up to 92%, while providing the shooter and large 25.2 by 8.4 foot field of view.

So get ready to take down a trophy on your next muzzleloader hunt. Check out the store at www.OpticsPlanet.com and order your Nikon Omega 3-9×40 Muzzleoading Riflescope today. Available in multiple finishes, including camo, black and silver – Free Shipping!

Our snowstorm is all over, save for that nasty wind, but that won’t stop me from waxing the skis and braving the elements. Didn’t go outside, yesterday, for various reasons and, for me, a whole day of being trapped indoors is like torture.

I read in our local Milwaukee paper that, as big cities go, Milwaukee is ranked 4th in the nation for bad winters and that Chicago, where I recently lived, is ranked 5th in the nation for bad winters. As a cross country skier I guess that means I am moving up in the world. It’s all a matter of perspective.
I remember an evening, many years, ago, when I was serving as a tour guide at our local astronomy club observatory. Had a guy that wanted to see Saturn in one of our telescopes, so I moved the scope into place and gave him instructions where to place his eye over the telescope eyepiece. He took one look and said, “Not much to it, is there?” Not sure what he expected, but seeing Saturn in a telescope, even after forty some years of seeing Saturn in a telescope, never fails to impress me. It’s all a matter of perspective.
I was once a birding guide for a local sanctuary and took a VIP out birding. He wanted to add a Ferruginous Hawk ( large western hawk) to his life list, so I took him to a remote prairie dog town that I knew was constantly patrolled by these big hawks. The setting was impressive. You could see the town disappear over a distant horizon, the day was warm and sunny, everything green and bustling on that beautiful spring day. It was a good day to be outdoors. I knew he would be impressed.
He wasn’t. Said it was kind of creepy. I setup the spotting scope and we spotted a Ferruginous Hawk in a matter of minutes. He nodded, then , checked it off on his list, then told me to get him out of there. It’s all a matter of perspective.
